PSMEF Scholarship Program

These guidelines outline the terms and conditions of the PSME Foundation Scholarship Program (SP) for students pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME).​

A. Scholarship Benefits:

Financial Assistance: Php 15,000.00 per term (P30,000.00 per year) will be provided to each scholar until the completion of the BSME program, subject to the scholar's fulfillment of the program requirements and the continued availability of funds.

Commencement: The scholarship may be granted at any term starting from the 1st term of the 2nd year of the BSME program.

Duration: The scholarship is valid for the normal duration of the BSME program at the scholar's institution. Any extensions beyond the normal duration will require review and approval by the PSME Foundation Scholarship Council and may not be guaranteed.

B. Eligibility Qualifications:

Academic Standing: Applicants must at least be currently enrolled in the 1st year of the BSME program at the time of application.

Academic Performance: Applicants must have a General Weighted Average (GWA) of 2.50 or higher in their most recent academic term.

Course of Study: Applicants must be pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) degree.

C. Application Requirements:

Applicants must submit the following documents to the PSME Foundation:

Completed Scholarship Application Form (downloadable from the PSMEF website/online portal).

One (1) recent 2x2 ID pictures.

Official Grade Certification from the school's Registrar or Administration Office, covering the applicant's academic record up to the most recent term.

Photocopy of the latest Income Tax Return (ITR) of both parents/legal guardians or a notarized Affidavit of Not Filing Income Tax Return if applicable.

If a parent/legal guardian is an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW), a copy of their current employment contract with clearly indicated salary must be submitted.

Certificate of Good Moral Character from the school's Office of the Prefect of Discipline or equivalent office.

Certificate of Good Health from a licensed physician (to be submitted upon approval of the application).

A brief essay (maximum 500 words) explaining why the applicant is deserving of the scholarship, highlighting their academic achievements, financial need, career aspirations, and commitment to the field of Mechanical Engineering.

Two (2) recommendation letters from department heads, professors, or academic advisors who are familiar with the applicant's academic capabilities and character.

Endorsement letter from the President of a PSME Chapter in good standing.

D. Responsibilities of Scholars:

To maintain their scholarship, scholars must adhere to the following:

Academic Performance: Maintain a GWA of 2.75 or higher in every academic term.

Minimum Grade: Not receive a grade lower than 3.0 in any course/subject.

Course Load: Carry a regular academic load as prescribed by the BSME program curriculum each term and enroll only in courses required by the program. Any deviations must be pre-approved by the PSME Foundation Scholarship Committee.

No Dropped/Failed Courses: Not have any dropped or failed courses, including NSTP (National Service Training Program) and P.E. (Physical Education). Remedial or repeat courses may affect scholarship eligibility and must be reported to the PSME Foundation.

Disciplinary Record: Not be subjected to any disciplinary sanction by the school or be convicted of any offense punishable by law.

Contact Information: Provide and regularly update their personal contact information (address, phone number, email address) with the PSME Foundation.

Enrollment Validation: Visit the School Administration office or designated scholarship liaison before each enrollment period for scholarship validation and processing.

JPSME Engagement: Be an active member of the school's PSME Junior Unit (JPSME) and submit a report of their JPSME activities to the PSME Foundation per semester. This report should detail their contributions to the organization and highlight any leadership roles held.

BSME Program Enrollment: Maintain continuous enrollment in the BSME program. Any change of major or withdrawal from the program will result in the termination of the scholarship.

Progress Reports: Submit academic progress reports to the PSME Foundation at the end of each term, including grades, a brief summary of academic achievements, and any challenges encountered.

Attendance at Events: Scholars are expected to attend PSME Foundation events and activities, as requested.

Maintain Communication: Maintain open communication with the PSME Foundation and promptly respond to inquiries.

E. Scholarship Renewal and Termination:

Renewal: The scholarship is renewable each term, contingent upon the scholar's fulfillment of the responsibilities outlined in Section D and the availability of funds.

Termination: The scholarship may be terminated by the PSME Foundation for any of the following reasons:

Failure to meet the academic requirements (GWA and minimum grade).

Dropping or failing courses.

Violation of the scholar's responsibilities.

Change of major or withdrawal from the BSME program.

Misrepresentation of information in the scholarship application.

Conduct unbecoming of a PSMEF scholar.

Exhaustion of scholarship funds.

F. Scholar's Pledge of Commitment:

Upon acceptance of the scholarship, the scholar must sign a Pledge of Commitment, acknowledging their understanding and agreement to abide by the terms and conditions of the program. This pledge will outline the scholar's responsibilities and the consequences of failing to meet them. (A sample pledge form is attached as Appendix A).
